Economic Development Authority

Our Mission

“The mission of the Jamestown S’Klallam Economic Development Authority is to assist the Tribe, its citizens and their families in achieving stable, long-term, economic self-sufficiency, by:

  • encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship
  • creating a stable economic foundation centered on the pursuit of for-profit ventures
  • strengthening existing Tribal businesses
  • providing employment opportunities for Tribal citizens
  • creating a sustainable revenue stream to support essential governmental services provided by the Tribe, including those to its Elders and children, while preserving and enhancing the Tribal heritage and culture, and utilizing the unique resources available to the Tribe.”

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Economic Development Authority was established in 2005 to provide oversight and direction to certain Tribal businesses in order to further Tribal, and Tribal Citizen, economic prosperity.

The primary function of the EDA is to provide administrative support and business oversight to the EDA and JKT enterprises under our service umbrella. Because many of the administrative support functions are pooled among the enterprises, business managers have the flexibility to focus more on business development and less on administration.

At any given time the EDA is evaluating a number of different business and investment opportunities. Ideas are presented across a wide range of industries and represent various stages of business development. Our job is to maximize Tribal investments by conducting thorough due-diligence and seeking emerging products and services in established business sectors (’niche’ markets).

The EDA works closely with the Jamestown Tribal Government to support the Tribe’s overall comprehensive planning goals. In addition to growing the Tribe’s enterprise base, we feel that our success relies on assisting the Tribal government and Tribal citizens The EDA is working to grow the Tribe’s enterprise base, provide support services to the Tribal Government and guide the growth and self-sufficiency of the existing Tribal enterprises.

The Economic Development Authority oversees the business divisions of JKT Development, Inc. and the enterprises of the EDA: Jamestown Excavating, Jamestown Networks & Carlsborg Self-Storage.
