Our Mission
“The Mission of the Public Safety & Natural Resources Enforcement Department is to provide for the safety and security of Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal citizens and employees. The Natural Resources department has overall management responsibility for fishing, hunting and the gathering of resources pursuant to the treaty rights of the Tribe. The Public Safety and Natural Resources Enforcement Department shall provide for the lawful protection of those resources.”

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s Public Safety & Natural Resources Enforcement Department as directed by Tribal Council will support Tribal management’s commitment to the protection and enrichment of its fish, shellfish, wildlife and plant resources throughout the Tribe’s Usual and Accustomed areas.
The geographical area for which this Enforcement responsibility extends is immense, covering 1,250 river miles, 2,250 square miles of marine area and 1,441 square miles of land.
Tribal laws, statutes, ordinances and regulations that are in place governing separate fishery or hunting and gathering activities are strictly enforced. The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s Public Safety & Natural Resources Enforcement Department works cooperatively with local, tribal, state and federal law enforcement officers to ensure joint natural resource management and law enforcement goals are met. These cooperative efforts are critical to provide the greatest extent of protection for the Tribe’s fish and wildlife resources. Interagency cooperation and sharing of information has also been extended to the US Navy, Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Department of Homeland Security as well as local, state and county law enforcement agencies.
